Color Swell - A Joke About Caricatures and an Art Project about Sponge Painted Rainbows

Here's a silly joke about art supplies and instructions for an art project called "Fingerprint Animals".  

Joke About Art Supplies

When I do bad caricatures in the street, I always attract a crowd.
I may not be a good artist, but I can sure draw attention.

Project:  Sponge Painted Rainbows

Materials Needed:

  • Sponges cut into small pieces
  • Washable paint in rainbow colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
  • White paper or cardstock
  • Paper plate or palette for paint

Instructions:

  • Step 1: Pour each color of paint onto a paper plate or palette.
  • Step 2: Dip a sponge piece into one color of paint and dab excess off on the plate.
  • Step 3: Starting at the bottom of the paper, dab the sponge in an arch shape to create a rainbow.
  • Step 4: Repeat with each color, overlapping slightly to create a blended effect.
  • Step 5: Let the painting dry completely before displaying.
